"Kapululira Secondary School" in Chirundu
Location: Chirundu is located on the border with Zimbabwe, the mouth of the Zambezi. A beautiful landscape reminiscent of the mountainous landscape of southern Germany. Almost on the riverbank, in this national park, lies the Kapululira Secondary School.
Digital library: The EC² Digital School Learning System is installed along with a WIFI signal around the school grounds to access it from other classrooms. In 2022 we donated some tablets and a projector in a WIFI System with locally accessible School Content.
Special tasks: A storm in 2020 uncovered two classrooms and destroyed three teachers' apartments. Since then, teachers have had to drive 8 km with an off-roader vehicle to school every day. In the classrooms, all tables and chairs were damaged by the rain. Nevertheless, the children continued, partly sharing a single chair and a table. Out of the donations collected, we were able to purchase new tables and chairs manufactured locally by Zed-Vision. This February we traveled there and fix the broken chairs and tables together with the students and delivered new ones. We plan to finish this task this year with your help. Kinderheim Choma
Location: 340 km west of Lusaka inland.
Digital library: The children's home in Choma has been part of the project since 2018. A Raspberry Pi with the school software, 2 tablets, a WiFi device, and a beamer are already on site. In 2022 we left four Tablets there and got to know the new head teacher and the home manager.
Special tasks: A new team of teachers will be taught how to run then e-library.
Lugwasyo Open Community School Choma
Location: 340 km west of Lusaka inland.
Digital library: The school received a library device for training at the first meeting. Now it still needs a connection to the power grid which will be sponsored by the local government.
Special tasks: On the next trip, we plan to install out e-learning system directly on-site.

In dieser neuen Bibliothek werden vielfältige Ressourcen (Schulbücher, Lernvideos, Nachschlagewerke...) digital angeboten, können vor Ort studiert werden oder ausgedruckt mitgenommen werden. Diese digitalen Inhalte sind allesamt lizenzfreie Materialien, die in einer Sammlung ("Kolibri") zusammengestellt wurden und ohne Internetverbindung offline von uns zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Dazu installieren wir einen kleinen Server mit den Daten, bringen Laptops, Beamer, PC´s und andere Endgeräte als Spende mit und bauen vor Ort ein lokales Netzwerk auf. So kann man mit einem persönlichen Handy oder Tablett oder einem Endgerät von der Bibliothek diese Ressourcen kostenfrei abrufen und einfach drauf los lernen.
Das besondere an diesem Projekt ist, dass die Bibliothek öffentlich sein wird. Im Moment läuft eine kleinere Version in den Räumen einer Kirche, betreut von dem Pastor vor Ort. Nun soll ein eigenes Gebäude errichtet werden und eine geschulte Betreuungskraft eingesetzt werden. Dann kann man zu Öffnungszeiten vor Ort lernen, oder via lokalem Netzwerk jederzeit Daten abrufen.
Im Februar 2024 soll die Planung und der Bau des neuen Gebäudes beginnen. Da werden wir auch weitere Technik hinbringen und eine Betreuungskraft ausbilden. Und die Sammlung "Kolibri" wird mit allen 13 Schulen vor Ort vernetzt werden.
Special tasks: In dieser Gegend gibt es auch eine Schule und eine Berufsausbildung in der Landwirtschaft für blinde Menschen. Einige von ihnen sind Albinos, die kulturell unter Verfolgung leiden. Wir konnten bereits einen Braille-Drucker bereitstellen, so können die Schulinhalte sogar in Blindenschrift ausgedruckt werden. Für diese abgelegene Gegend ist das ganze Projekt enorm innovativ und hilfreich.
